First Choice Solutions is creating a fishing club for people with developmental disabilities. Participants will fish from a dock in a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment.

Dock fishing provides a stable and accessible way for people with different mobility, sensory, and support needs to enjoy the outdoors. Participants can remain close to seating, shade, supervision, and assistance while learning at their own pace.

Fishing can help build confidence, patience, concentration, coordination, social skills, independence, and friendships. Most importantly, it gives participants the opportunity to enjoy nature, try something new, and experience the excitement of catching a fish.

We are currently accepting donations of new or gently used fishing equipment, including:

All other fishing supplies are welcome. We also gladly accept gift cards to sporting-goods stores so we can purchase the specific equipment our participants need.

Donated equipment should be clean, safe, and in working condition.

A donated fishing pole is more than a piece of equipment. It can give someone the chance to learn a new skill, make a friend, spend time outdoors, and experience the joy of catching their first fish.
